Online Afro-Cuban Percussion Courses. Play in a v Online Afro-Cuban Percussion Courses. Play in a virtual percussion section with like-minded folks, learning patterns which are part of the richness of Cuban based music. We use pre-recorded tracks to make it feel like you're part of a group. Access to an instrument is preferable, but not essential. Salsa Percussion Level 1 & 2 Using original pre-recorded backing tracks, we guide you through the rhythmic patterns of Salsa music, covering different sections of an arrangement with breaks and variations on conga, bongó and timbal. Level 1 & 2 With two facilitators, we will cover a sequence of batá rhythms and songs, again using backing tracks to learn all three drum parts with variations and conversations. Toca dentro de una seccion virtual de percusion, junto con gente de la misma afición, aprendiendo patrones que son parte de la riqueza de la musica Cubana. Usamos pistas ya grabadas para que se sienta parte del grupo. Acseso a un instrumento es preferible pero no esencial. Damos las clases en Inglés pero si algo no esta claro podemos traducir sin problema. Percusion de Salsa. Nivel 1 y 2. Usando pistas originales, le guiamos por los patrones ritmicos de la salsa, abarcando las secciones distintas de un arreglo con cortes y variaciones de conga, bongó y timbal. Batá. Con dos profesores, enseñaremos una secuencia de ritmos de batá con cantos, usando pistas originales ya grabadas para pasar por los tres tambores con variaciones y conversaciones.
Online Coro de Clave Choir - Level 1-3 Tuesday: 9 Online Coro de Clave Choir - Level 1-3 Tuesday: 9th Feb (then every two weeks) Time: 6.00 - 8.00 Price: £10 per session or £5 per session (if you are experiencing financial difficulties) when you buy a 6-week bundle. Drop-In is £15 or £10 conc. Taught by Vicky Jassey and David Pattman, we will work on some existing repertoire and some new material to keep our community musically and socially connected. Online Bata Course - 6 Weeks - Level 2/3 Wednesda Online Bata Course - 6 Weeks - Level 2/3 Wednesday - 3rd March – 7th April Time: 6.30 - 8.00 Price: £120 (£20 per session) or £60 (£10 per session if you are experiencing financial difficulties) Taught by David Pattman and Vicky Jassey, we will work on a bata sequence for Elegua. We will demonstrate each of the parts, variations, conversations and how the parts fit with songs, clave and pulse. We also provide course materials and minus one recordings. Online Salsa Percussion Courses led by David Pattm Online Salsa Percussion Courses led by David Pattman. 4 Weeks: Mondays – 11th Jan – 1st Feb Time: 6.30 – 8.00 Levels: 1/2 Price: £60 (£15 per session) or £40 (£10 per session if you are experiencing financial difficulties) A 4-week course for those wanting to learn and improve their salsa percussion skills. This course will include technique development, ensemble playing and drum variations for bongo, congas, güiro and timbales and cover styles such as charanga, son and salsa. David’s experience includes playing with Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club, Cachaito Lopez, Cubanismo, Anga Diaz, Roberto Plá, Snowboy, Django Bates, Alex Wilson, Slim Gailard, Carlos ‘Patato’ Valdez and Daniel Ponce as well as Jacob Collier and Paul McCartney. He currently teaches at Middlesex University and has lectured at the Royal College of Music, Goldsmiths College, and Morley College. Online Group Bata Course - Level 2/3 Wednesdays – 13th Jan – 3rd Feb (4-week module) 6.30 pm - 8.00 pm Hosted by David Pattman and Vicky Jassey, these sessions will work on teaching a bata sequence for river goddess Ochun which will involve learning at least three different toques (rhythms). Demonstration will be given of each of the parts, variations, conversations and how the parts fit with songs, clave and pulse. These sessions are aimed at those with experience of polyrhythmic hand drumming. (If you have never played batá drums before but are interested in learning and are an experienced drummer, please let us know so we can give you a short lesson on basic technique and hand positioning before the class.) We wanted to find a fun way to connect with our co We wanted to find a fun way to connect with our community of friends and musicians during the coronavirus lockdown. The idea started small but grew into a monster! With contributions from 42 wonderful people, we edited together 310 separate audio and video files to create CORO NA MÁ, a video which celebrates music and community despite adversity.
