This term, we will study the Oru Cantado, the rhythms and songs played to the Orichas at the beginning of a Regal de Ocha ceremony. We will demonstrate each of the parts, variations, conversations and how the parts fit with songs, clave and pulse.
Classes taught by David Pattman and Vicky Jassey. They have combined more than twenty years of experience playing batá in rituals, artistic settings and teaching.
The online option is live streaming through Zoom. You will be able to ask questions and access the video-recorded class.

Please note that we keep our classes to a maximum of 13 people to provide the most effective learning experience. Instruments are provided. Not sure what to expect? We will refund the remaining course fee if you are unhappy after the first class.
