The Rumba Laboratory is a 5-hour Rumba percussion and song workshop for people who have some experience of playing percussion. We offer one workshop per month in London. This is an ongoing project. The idea is to run a regular rehearsal ensemble, emphasising group playing and harmony singing with a view to developing a repertoire of traditional rumba to performance level.

This event is a continuation of last month’s workshop. Therefore, those wishing to attend will be asked to catch up from the previous session. The material (recordings, lyrics and notation) will be made available on booking.

Taught by David Pattman & Vicky Jassey.

*Bundle Option: £35 when booking 4 workshops in advance (to be completed within a six month period): sign up and pay for 4 workshops upfront for the old price of £35 per workshop (£140 in total instead of £160).

For added flexibility, participants can attend any 4 workshops within a six-month period (which will be extended should there be an odd month without a workshop, e.g. August). However,  Batá Intensive and Rumba Labs sadly cannot be combined. Each new 6-month period will re-start once all 4 workshops are attended. Unfortunately, we regret that we won’t be able to offer refunds nor carry forward workshops should the 4 sessions not be completed within the 6-month period.

* Concessions for students and low income is 10%. Low income is anyone on child tax benefits or any other government benefits or living on £17,000 per year or below.

  1. When I can, I travel from Wales to attend this course. A high standard of teaching and a great group of people.

  2. Without doubt one of my favourite workshops led by Bombo Productions is the Rumba workshop. Dave & Vicky are very supportive teachers and with a wealth of knowledge to share. One always feels stretched with considerate guidance and fun which makes for a great combination. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or beginner, learning about Afro-Cuban music with Bombo is highly recommended.
