Rumba Singing and Drumming Workshops

Rumba is an inclusive 'happening' of drumming, singing and dancing that originated in Cuba. It is a collective event with an element of chance.  No two Rumbas are alike – the journey will always be a new one.

Rumba has a playful, undulating energy, and with the right alchemy,  the sparks will fly - It’s something everyone feels.

Song workshops will cover;

Rhythmical Content –     Syncopated melodies
and their relationship to the drum rhythms.

Call and response –        Interplay between a lead
voice and chorus.

Co-ordination –               Clapping clave and pulse
while  singing.

Harmonies –                    Two and three part
voicings.

*The singing workshop are available to all levels.

You can attend all the workshops over the weekend

as each workshop will cover different material. There are discounts when booking more than one.

Dilanga will invite the song workshop participants to join them during thier evening performance.
