Coro de Clave is a community choir based in London. Our music draws on the beautiful 19-century Cuban choir tradition. Our choir is open to all.

New Course Begins 8th January 2018

Coro de Clave draws on a 19th-century Cuban tradition where large groups of singers sang repertoires of rumbas accompanied by percussion. These sessions are open to everyone. Not sure what to expect? Come and participate in our taster session on the 8th January.

Course leaders Vicky Jassey and David Pattman

Each session will be divided into three sections:
Practical rhythm and voice exercises; that aims to develop an understanding of clave (the asymmetrical timeline that underpins Cuban music) and singing in contra time.

Repertoire; that builds on learning a body of songs from the Cuban rumba tradition.

Harmony; we will work on three and four-part vocal harmonies.

Timing; we will develop an understanding of clave and vocal rumba phrasing.
