    Vicky Jassey

     

     

    Vicky Jassey is a singer and percussionist who has been teaching percussion and voice for twenty years. She developed a passion for Afro- Cuban Folkloric music after being introduced to Bata drumming.

    She is director of Bombo Productions which promotes Afro-Cuban folkloric music through Performance and Education.

     

     

     

     

     

    Jack Baker

    Jack Baker is a founding member of Bombo Productions. He is a sought-after session drummer, runs a local studio and produces music under the guise of The Jack Baker Trio. He takes time out to teach on the summer school and helps with the planning and accounting for Bombo Productions.

    J P Courtney

     

    J P Courtney is an educator and musical director of several Baterias around the UK that perform traditional Brazilian carnival music. He is also a member of Monobloco performing in the U.K and Rio de Janeiro.

     

     

    Flavio Correa

     

     

    Flavio Correa came to London from Havana in 1994. Flavio is the band leader for Grupo Convergencia and for The Sugar Kings, a seven piece salsa band. He is also on the board of the Latin American Association which provides support to Latin Americans living in London and exposure to Latin American culture for all communities.

     

     

    Pip Dudmish

     

     

    Pip Dudmish worked in the animation industry for many years before working in schools. She leads the art project for the Bombo Productions Summer School and is currently working as a mentor at Stoke Newington School.

     

    Sandra Dyer

     

    Sandra Dyer co-runs Drumhead which facilitates rhythm-based workshops. Her work has involved collaborations with Bombo Productions Summer School, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, Sing for Water and the Royal Festival Hall. She is a founder member of Cascada.


     

    Damarys Farres

     

     

     

    Damarys Farres graduated from the National Ballet School in Havana. She is the Director of the Cuban School of Arts in London, teaching and performing Cuban folkloric and popular styles of dance.

     


     

    Ravin Jayasuria

     

    Ravin Jayasuria is an acclaimed tutor specialising in Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian music. He is founder/director of One Voice Music and has worked with many UK & international artists including Amelia Pedroso, Arturo Martinez, Marta Gallaraga, LaTimbala, Murah Soares & Dudu Tucci.

     

    Jimmy LeMessurier

     

    Jimmy LeMessurier is a versatile drummer/ percussionist as well as a bandleader, composer and arranger. His career encompasses the worlds of Afro-Cuban folkloric, Latin and Jazz. Credits include Jimmy Bosch, Camilo Azuquita, Tito Allen, Jack Costanzo and Tony Vega.

     

    Hamish Orr

     

    Hamish Orr has been playing and teaching percussion for over twenty years, having studied in Cuba, Brazil and West Africa. He has performed with London Lucumi Choir, King Salsa, African Melody Makers and Brand New Heavies.

     

     

    David Pattman

     

    David Pattman is highly respected for his musicianship and knowledge of folkloric and popular Cuban music. He has played or recorded with Snowboy, Paul McCartney, Django Bates, Alex Wilson, Omara Portuondo, Cachaito Lopez, Cubanismo and Anga Diaz.

     

     

    Alberto Limonta Pérez

     

    Alberto Limonta Pérez "Limon" from Havana Cuba, is a percussionist, dancer and singer. He was a member of Clave y Guaguanco, Orquesta Afro Experimental and currently directs Limon y Sentimiento Latino,  based in Brighton.

     

    Crispin Robinson

     

    Crispin Robinson is a percussionist, actor, broadcaster and storyteller with a deep passion for Afro-Cuban folkloric music.  He is currently working on a radio documentary series about global drumming traditions for the BBC World Service and taking a Masters degree in Ethnomusicology at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

     

    Cicely Taylor

     

    Cicely Taylor is an experienced choral and band leader, specialising in Afro-Latin styles of music.  She directed carnival-arts company Brincadeira and choral/ percussion group ‘Coro Folklorico’, and is currently directing the Afro- Latin funk orchestra Kalakuta Millionaires.

     

    Ronald Thomas

     

    Ronald Thomas is a singer and percussionist with a long history in Afro music from Brazil and Cuba. He has toured with the London Afro Bloc playing Bahia-style samba reggae and regularly performs Afro-Cuban music with Kevin Haynes’ Grupo Eleggua.

     

    Beth Thompson

    Beth Thompson is a freelance photographer and graphic designer. Previous projects include work for independent documentary film-makers RiceNPeas; Sordid Soup Records; social/political Latin film and music promoters Movimientos and the DJ collective Radiochango.

     

    Ollie Tunmer

    Ollie Tunmer is a drummer and workshop leader in body percussion, samba drumming, hand percussion and drum kit. He performed with STOMP and is director of samba percussion group Carnival Collective.
