“As a lover of this music they are hugely enjoyable and as a professional percussionist, they can have a direct influence in your playing and approach to many other styles of music. I cannot recommend these courses highly enough.” Matthew West, London.
The batá Intensive days are part of a series of workshops where participants learn song and rhythms on the Cuban batá dedicated to the Yoruba deities.
These workshops are not suitable for those without some musical experience. If you are a beginner and would like to learn batá please get in touch and we can let you know of other options or workshops going on.
4th May (Saturday)
1st June (Saturday)
Time: 11.00 am – 5.00 pm
Location: Dalston N16 8DL
Drum Hire: You can use our drums for free.
£40 drop-in. We haven’t increased our prices since 2011. However, that inevitable time has now sadly come so as to develop ongoing activities and continually offer workshops in small group settings.
£35 when booking 4 workshops in advance (to be completed within a six month period): Sign up and pay for 4 workshops upfront for the old price of £35 per workshop (£140 in total instead of £160).
For added flexibility, participants can attend any 4 workshops within a six-month period (which will be extended should there be an odd month without a workshop, e.g. August). However, Batá Intensive and Rumba Labs sadly cannot be combined. Each new 6-month period will re-start once all 4 workshops are attended. Unfortunately, we regret that we won’t be able to offer refunds nor carry forward workshops should the 4 sessions not be completed within the 6-month period.
10 % discount for students and low income.
